Submit Your Work
Want to submit work? Great! We're always looking for submissions of new material. The process involves three easy steps:
- Read the general guidelines.
- Read the guidelines appropriate for your submission—if you're submitting fan art, click the fan art heading to see the additional guidelines for the fan art section.
- Click the 'Ready to Submit' link at the bottom of this page, which contains directions on how to start the submission process. You will fill out a form over the course of several pages with your personal information as well as information about your submission.
General Guidelines
As with a publication of any sort, there are some general rules to bear in mind before submitting anything to the Dragonlance Nexus for publication. These guidelines are in place to make our lives easier—for the most part—but we also hope that by giving you an idea of what we're expecting to receive, we can help focus your own efforts with your submission being better for it.
Please give our editors some time to read and discuss your submission, and try to be patient. We operate on a first-come first-serve basis, but the volume of submissions could mean you might get a response in as little as a week or as much as a month. (We try our best to make sure to at least get you a response within two weeks.)
If you have any suggestions on the matter of presentation, please feel free to make them. We may or may not use any of your suggestions, but at the end of the day you're the person who knows the intent of the material best. If we can accommodate your ideas without making a lot of work for ourselves, we'll try to do so.
We also ask that all contributors read and agree to our Publication Policy, available on the first page of the submission process. Your submission should also comply with the Wizards of the Coast Standards of Content.
File Format
Except for the fan art and fan music sections of the web site, if you want send us an email with your submission attached to it, the following rules apply. We currently accept files only in one of the following formats: Microsoft Word (doc), Rich Text (rtf) or plain text (txt). Other formats, such as WordPerfect (wps), Microsoft Works, or other word-processing programs will be rejected at the discretion of the editor. (Files in ZIP archives to reduce file size are acceptable as long as the compressed file is one of the allowed formats.) Specific guidelines are detailed below.
Section Guidelines
In addition to the general guidelines, please read the following guidelines appropriate to the section of the site where you are considering sending your submission. Click any heading to see the guidelines for that section.
The Dragonlance Nexus accepts submissions of black and white and color artwork. Photographs are not accepted.
All submissions should be related in some way to the Dragonlance Saga, but we encourage you to develop your own characters and subject matter.
Specific subject matter can be determined by the artist. All submissions must adhere to the Wizards of the Coast Standards of Content. Please note items #4 and #5 in the 'Standards of Content' with regard to nudity in art submissions.
Artwork should be sent to the site as an email attachment. After filling out the forms on the following pages, you will receive an email with specific instructions on how to send your work to us. When you do send your file, we ask that you adhere to the following guidelines:
File FormatArtwork is only accepted in one of the following three file formats: GIF, JPEG or PNG. We will not accept files submitted in other formats (e.g. BMP, PSD, PICT, TIF, etc.) because the file size is much too large to be sent via email.
Image DimensionsAll images should also adhere to the following guidelines for physical size. The image should be at least 600 pixels in a single dimension: in other words, at least 600 pixels wide or 600 pixels tall. (If your image is both, that is fine as well.) Larger images are welcome as long as they fall within the file size requirements outlined below.
File SizeFiles should be, at most, 250 Kbytes in total size. The use of JPEG or PNG compression is recommended for reducing the size of photographic-quality artwork, but not to the point where the image quality suffers drastically. GIF graphics are recommended for images with large areas of solid color.
Due to repeated problems with submissions exceeding the recommended file size and dimensions above, any files received that do not conform to the guidelines will be rejected at the discretion of the editor.

Specific subject matter can be determined by the author. All submissions must adhere to the Wizards of the Coast Standards of Content.
Submissions must be in one of the following formats: email, plain text, rich text, or Microsoft Word. Further instructions on how to get your submission to us will be provided on the following pages.
General requirements for all rules submissions are outlined below:

The Dragonlance Nexus accepts submissions of original musical compositions.
All submissions should be related in some way to the Dragonlance Saga, but we encourage you to develop your own characters and subject matter.
Specific subject matter can be determined by the composer. The composer is invited to add a description of the work, as that often makes it easier for the audience to understand the movements within the music. All submissions must adhere to the Wizards of the Coast Standards of Content.
Music should be sent to the site as an email attachment. After filling out the forms on the following pages, you will receive an email with specific instructions on how to send your work to us. When you do send your file, we ask that you adhere to the following guidelines:
File FormatMusic is only accepted in the MIDI file format. We will not accept files submitted in other formats due to size considerations and our inability to convert them to MIDI.
LengthThere is no minimum requirement on the length we're looking for—anything is fine. We would prefer it if your work is longer than a minute or two, but there is really no minimum requirement. (We would have to question it if your composition is less than 45 seconds, though.)
File SizeFiles should be, at most, 250 Kbytes in total size. If your music is only available in a larger file size, please consider changing formats or using compression, or email us to inform us that your file will be larger than the guidelines state.

Submissions must be in one of the following formats: email, plain text, rich text, or Microsoft Word. Further instructions on how to get your submission to us will be provided on the following pages.
All submissions should include ingredients and cooking instructions, which are essential for publication. We also recommend serving sizes, although that is not essential.
Actual recipes are preferred, although comedic recipes (such as "Gully Bug Eye Stew") are acceptable too, so long as a note that they are intended to be humorous is within the submission.
If a recipe is taken from a source, then please cite the source.

The Dragonlance Nexus accepts submissions of editorial content and feature articles for use in the editorials section of the site.
All submissions should be related in some way to the Dragonlance Saga. Specific subject matter is up to the discretion of the author and can either be opinion or factual research, but must be clearly labeled as one or the other when the article is submitted. All submissions must adhere to the Wizards of the Coast Standards of Content.
Submissions must be in one of the following formats: email, plain text, rich text, or Microsoft Word. Further instructions on how to get your submission to us will be provided on the following pages.
Specific requirements and notes outlined below:
Views & OwnershipThe views presented in the article are solely those of the author and do not represent those of the Dragonlance Nexus. Authors must understand that the Nexus does not endorse a review simply because it is posted on the site.

Article LengthArticles and opinion pieces should be a minimum of 1,000 words. (Approximately 2 single-spaced, typed pages.) There is no maximum length, though we suggest articles are no longer than 10,000 words. Articles that do not meet the minimum requirement will be returned to the author.

Views & OwnershipThe views presented in the review are solely those of the author and do not represent those of the Dragonlance Nexus. Authors must understand that the Dragonlance Nexus does not endorse a review simply because it is posted on the site.
Tone & ContentWhile opinion pieces and articles can be critical of a variety of things, the Nexus will not post articles that are libelous, defamatory, hateful, discriminatory, etc. The Nexus reserves the sole right to determine what articles will and will not be posted. In addition, the Nexus asks that reviewers make an effort not to "give away" the plot of a novel in their review.
Review LengthProduct reviews should be a minimum of 500 words, and may only cover one book/product per review. (Approximately 1 single-spaced, typed page.) Use the title of the book you're reviewing for the submission title. Make sure you indicate how many 'stars' the book gets. There is no maximum length, though we suggest reviews are no longer than 2,000 words. Reviews that do not meet the minimum requirement will not be published.

Article FormatArticles should follow the general outline of existing articles within the Lexicon area (i.e. biographies should include an 'early life' and similar sections as appropriate.)
Article LengthAs some topics have much more information about them than others do, there is no specific minimum word count. However, topics that contain a lot of references or information should be longer than those with few references; still, the suggested minimum word count for any article is 250 words. (Approximately 1/2 a single-spaced, typed page.) There is no maximum length, though we suggest articles are no longer than 4,000 words. Articles that do not meet the minimum requirement will not be published.
Article OwnershipAll articles submitted to the Lexicon project become the property of the Nexus. Authors are invited to submit changes, as necessary, to articles they have written, but assign all other rights to Lexicon articles to the Dragonlance Nexus.
