Ice DragonetteD&D 3e (3.0/3.5) Rulesby NaelDragon (Cold) Environment: The scales of a wyrmling ice dragonet glisten like mirrors. As the dragonet ages, the sheen disappears, and by very old age, scales of pale blue and light gray are mixed in with the white. CombatIce dragonets prefer sudden assaults bursting from beneath water, snow, or ice. They loose their breath weapon, and then try to knock out a single opponent with a follow-up attack. Breath Weapon (Su): An ice dragonet has one type of breath weapon, a cone of cold. Ice Walking (Ex): This ability works like the spider climb spell, but the surfaces the dragonet climbs must be icy. It is always in effect. Freezing Fog (Sp): An old or older dragonet can use this ability three times per day. It is similar to a solid fog spell but also causes a rime of slippery ice to form on any surface the fog touches, creating the effect of a grease spell. The dragonet is immune to the grease effect because of its ice walking ability. This ability is the equivalent of a 5th-level spell. Chilling Roar: As an adult the ice dragonet may use this ability 2 times per day, and one additional time per age category above adult, to strike fear into its opponents as if the spell fear had been cast by a 10th level caster. Skills: Hide, Move Silently, and Disguise are considered class skills for the ice dragonet. AppearanceRanging in size from a large dog (Wyrmling) to a rather large draft horse (Great Wyrm) the ice dragonet resembles the parent white dragon only in coloration and general build. The ice dragonet is wingless, but has heavier front claws to assist in burrowing beneath the glaciers, and for gripping the ice as it runs. The neck of the ice dragonet is considerably shorter and much more like a horse's in alignment, as are the shoulders and pelvis. Unlike a horse however the articulation of the front arms/legs and back legs are of the normal draconic configuration, which allows the dragonet the ability to climb and grasp its prey. OriginWhen the Graygem began affecting the creatures of Krynn, all creatures even the mighty dragons where also altered. As the Graygem passed over a clutch of abandoned white dragon eggs, it altered the general structure and nature of the unborn dragons, making them more cunning and intelligent as well as denying them wings and much of the draconic magic. The ice dragonet does retain the breath weapon but to a lesser degree and in a cloud that expands in a 40 foot radius, rather than a cone.
