Luccia Solamnus

Article written by Kranar Drogin

Luccia Solamnus (1832 PC - ? PC), or Luce, was a Half-elf that grew up in Daltigoth, the capital of the Empire of Ergoth. Her parents were unknown, but she was the childhood friend of the great Vinas Solamnus, and later his wife. Together they had at least one son whom they named Elias Solamnus.

She was known to have had big, bright, deep blue eyes, gold-brown hair, and a face full of freckles.

Early Life

Luccia grew up with her childhood friend Vinas, and when he decided that he would join the military, Luccia of course wanted to go with even though she was a female and only 15 years old. So in the year 1817 PC, Vinas and Luccia ran away from home to join up with the military. The army would not allow her to join unless the two of them could climb a sheer pole to the top. Together, they were able to climb to the top, but as they were coming down, the shirt they were using ripped and Luccia was saved by the sacrifice of Vinas impaling himself while she landed safely on the ground.

So while Vinas goes to heal, Luccia begins her training. Eventually she made her way through training, and while marching near Solanthus, it was found out that she was a girl and kicked out of the military. So she joined up with some peasants there. Eventually by 1814 PC, she was encouraging the peasants to rebel against giving up their food. So began what was called the Solanthian Troubles. A young Ergothian colonel showed up one night bearing food, Luccia did not see who it was until he had left already, but it had been her lifelong friend Vinas.

While living there two important items of note took place. One was the Five Harvest Battles and the other was the Summer of the Soot Sun. Luccia's part in these was unknown, but both took place between 1817 PC - 1812 PC and was part of the Solanthian Troubles.

Two years later in 1812 PC, Luccia returned to Daltigoth from living with the peasants around Solanthus. The intolerable reign of Colonel Lucias Scipio was followed by the insufferable reign of Colonel Hellas, so Luccia decided to come to speak to the new Empress and see if she would supply bread to the starving people. Instead, she watched as Vinas saved the Emperor from an assassination, and she went to Vinas in the confusion to be with him. She stayed on with Vinas when he was put in charge of the Imperial Guard.

Imperial Guard

While Vinas took overall command of the Imperial Guard, Luccia took the title of Colonel and took charge of the griffons. When Vingaard rebelled against the Empire, she used her flights of griffons to assist Vinas in defeating the rebel armies. When the armies of Ergoth settled down for a siege against Vingaard Keep, Luccia and Vinas for the first time admitted their love for each other and became lovers.

Rose Rebellion

When Vinas decided to pick up the rebellion, Luccia gladly took his side. With her griffons, she was able to take Ergoth's forts bloodlessly on their march to Daltigoth. All the while she stood by his side. When Vinas was captured Phrygia, Luccia at first thought he had run back to her, but when she heard of his sentence of death she helped hatch a plan to free Vinas. Together with the rest of Vinas's friends, they were able to free Vinas and capture the city of Daltigoth, which led to them winning the Rose Rebellion and the new nation of Solamnia to be born.

Solamnia

Together Luccia and Vinas lived long lives together. They were married in the spring following the fall of Daltigoth. It is also known that together they had at least one son.
