Cobalt Rankil (? - ? PC) was a Hylar dwarf who became a High Thane of Thoradin and ruled when Istar issued the Proclamation of Manifest Virtue. The Proclamation outlawed the worship of evil and neutral gods and the dwarves of Thoradin were outraged by the edict. Cobalt announced that the doors of the realm would be closed and trade with Istar ended.

Istar responded to the dwarves closing of the trade routes by sending an army to force the trade routes reopen. The forces of Thoradin directed by Cobalt defeated the army of Istar. Cobalt then chose to hide the realm of Thoradin from outsiders and hid the entrances.
