Caergoth - An elven minstrel during her solo performance was brutally assaulted by a drunken minotaur sailor offended by her song.

This past week the first Caergoth performance of the troop of elven minstrels known as the Wanderers of Astarin was ended abruptly when a drunken minotaur, Ottun ohn Thonak, charged the stage. The Wanderers star soloist Sarah Brightsky was performing her new ballad, The Fight of Freedom, which details the exploits of the elven pirates aboard the Ashaynnth. .

"We had been focusing our attention upon the Solamnics in the audience," said Kynan "Ky" Fleetfoot, a kender and one of several Steel Legionnaire's there to provide protection for the minstrels. "We hadn't expected a minotaur to cause any trouble, especially over that song. The Fight of Freedom is not all that nice about minotaurs, but it does portray their late Admiral Marak es Conlyn as a highly honorable warrior and hero of their people." .

Witnesses say Brightsky was just completing the verses of the song which covered the duel between the Admiral and Captain Kingfisher of the Ashaynnth when the minotaur, Thonak reacted. He reportedly tossed his tankard in the fire and lowered his head charging full force at the elven singer intent on impaling her on his horns. Ky Fleetfoot however tackled the minotaurs legs toppling him, causing the minotaur to instead fall upon the elf. Thonak proceeded to try to pummel Brightsky, but fortunately for the elf in his drunken state most of the blows hit the floor, sparing the minstrel serious injuries. .

"I think that there is much more to this incident than there seems," said Fleetfoot "I spoke to Thonak's Captain who described the lifelong sailor, as the most reliable first mate he'd sailed with. Neither his Captain nor any of his crewmates can recall seeing Thonak drunk before. What's more I remember seeing a couple of shady looking dwarves drinking with him shortly before he went nuttso. The guard doesn't believe him when he says he doesn't have any memory of it all, but I do. I think the dwarves spiked his drink." .
