Caergoth - The elven minstrel who was last week assaulted by a drunk, successfully petitioned the court to have the minotaur responsible released into her custody.

This Misham in a surprising turn of events at the trial of Ottun ohn Thonak, the judge agreed to release the minotaur into the custody of the Sarah Brightsky the elf he is accused of assaulting. BrightSky is the star soloist of the minstrel troop the Wanderers of Astarin and she was performing her new ballad when a drunk Thonak charged at her. The respected elder, Lord Manfred uth Fiddich, Knight of the Rose had announced the verdict in the case was about to declare Thonak's sentence when Brightsky asked to address the court.

"Lord Knight if you please, I believe there is more to this incident, details as yet to be revealed," witnesses say Sarah Brightsky said. "I have spoken to Ottun several times during the intervening days since his attack and I truly believe him to be innocent. I have as yet no proof to back this up, but friends of mine are endeavoring to retrieve some. He is a good man, just ask his Captain and the sailors who serve with him and he is utterly remorseful. Please Sir Knight, don't imprison him like some common ruffian, and give us some time to find out who used him to harm me."

When Lord Fiddich replied that he couldn't just release Thonak because his victim had a soft spot for him, Brightsky made her unorthodox suggestion.

"Release him into the custody of myself and my troop, Lord Knight," Brightsky said. "We have steel legionnaires providing security, who can also keep an eye on him and at the same time we can put him to work." Lord Fiddich consented to Brightsky's impassioned plea and turned the minotaur over to her for a period of thirty days or until evidence is provided of his innocence.

Meanwhile many rumors are circulating Caergoth as to the identity of the two dwarves that many believed drugged Thonak. Some say that they are agents of the High Thane of Thorbardin, Jungor Stonesinger enacting some scheme to increase dwarven power. Another speaks of a dark plot of black robed magic users, possibly trying to undermine the growing power of the minotaur empire in the east. Yet another suggests a cult of the evil god Hiddukel is enacting a plan to undermine the Solamnic economy. The Herald was unable to contact Kynan Fleetfoot of the Steel Legion, the kender in charge of the investigation to gain the truth about any of these rumors.
